Funding and currency conversion costs

Alpari operates as an offshore broker for South African clients. There is no verified ZAR base account; accounts are in USD, EUR, GBP, or CZK. Deposits and withdrawals incur a bank conversion cost of roughly 2-3% between ZAR and USD.

There is no verified local ZAR instant-EFT rail at review. Funding options are:

  • Credit/debit cards
  • Bank wire transfer
  • E-wallets like FasaPay and Volet
  • Crypto (BTC/ETH)

The minimum deposit is USD 30 for the Micro account.

Regulation and Client Protection

South African clients are onboarded under the offshore operator Parlance Trading Ltd, regulated under the Comoros MISA licence T2023236. This is a Tier-3 offshore regulator.

The current FSCA FSP authorisation cited in some older reviews belonged to the prior Exinity operator and is not verified as current for today's Alpari brand. As an Alpari client in South Africa, you are not covered by local FSCA protections or the OTC Derivative Provider (ODP) licensing framework.

The Alpari brand was founded in 1998 and claims over 1 million clients globally. A long track record is not a substitute for strong local regulation.
WARNING
Check the FSCA's FSP register to verify who you're actually dealing with. A global brand name doesn't automatically mean local FSCA authorization. The safeguard for SA clients is not the same as for clients under a top-tier regulator like the FCA or CySEC.

Regulatory reality in South Africa

Alpari's web platform is fast, the mobile apps are well-designed, and it offers a wide range of instruments across MT4, MT5, and the Alpari app. The cost structure is transparent, and the Micro account is a low-cost entry point.

Strong local regulatory oversight is not available here - the absence of a verified FSCA licence is a real drawback. Traders who prioritise a top-tier regulatory status (FCA, CySEC, ASIC) should look elsewhere. Similarly, the lack of a ZAR base account and local instant EFT options means funding costs are higher than with a local broker.
